Who We Are

Chico Environmental provides environmental consulting services to public and private entities in Northern California. We've proudly served the North State for over ten years as a locally owned and operated business.

Our dedication to efficient, resourceful, and innovative approaches to projects stems from our belief that the North State is a unique environment that deserves careful planning and development. We assist public and private entities, local municipalities and the community with development projects, conservation projects, and natural resources management. Chico Environmental is devoted to strong advocacy of our clients' interests, personalized and responsive service, unique and innovative problem solving, educated and professional personnel, and creative approaches to meaningful mitigation of environmental impacts.

Phase I / II Environmental Site Assessment

Chico Environmental has prepared hundreds of Phase 1 Environmental Site Assessments throughout the North State.

Our assessments include a site reconnaissance, review regulatory information, and investigation of land-use history in order to evaluate environmental conditions at the site, which may have been negatively impacted by the use, storage, and/or disposal of hazardous substances.

During our Phase II - Hazardous Substance Investigations, Chico Environmental collects samples from areas of concern and provides timely results. A Report of Findings is provided with recommendations for any substance or hazard removal.

Chico Environmental’s Principal Scientist meets the definition of an Environmental Professional as defined in the California Code of Regulations (40 CFR 312.10)

Stormwater Pollution Prevention Plans (SWPPPs)

Chico Environmental develops Storm Water Pollution Prevention Plans (SWPPPs) to satisfy requirements of the State Water Resources Control Board Industrial and Construction General Permits.

Our SWPPPs ensure that industrial facilities and active construction sites implement proper Best Management Practices (BMPs) in order to prevent pollutant spills and meet the standards of the Environmental Protection Agency under Title 40 of the Code of Federal Regulations, Part 122.44.

Chico Environmental’s Principal Scientist John Lane is a Qualified SWPPP Developer (QSD) and Qualified SWPPP Practitioner (QSP).

Environmental Program Management and Regulatory Compliance

Chico Environmental is available to assist clients with a variety of pre-, during-, and post-construction activities in order to ensure environmental compliance at all stages of a given project. Our familiarity with CEQA / NEPA, and the state and federal permitting process, affords us the ability to be proactive from project design to project completion.

We have developed relationships with both the development and regulatory communities that enables us to foresee and forestall potential problems related to project impacts. Besides developing mitigation programs, we can also assist in onsite mitigation monitoring during project construction.
